RRC Request for Interest

The Civil Engineering Technology department at Red River College requires part-time instructor/facilitators to deliver short courses in the Gold Seal program. The courses and workshops are delivered through the Technology Solutions for the Workplace industry training initiative. Topic areas include the following:

• Project Management
• Construction Planning & Scheduling
• Construction Estimating
• Law and Contracts for Construction
• Project Costing Control and Accounting
• Construction Job Site Controls

Courses are intended to run from two to four consecutive work days, sometimes including a Saturday. If you would like to share your knowledge and expertise to help individuals seeking Gold Seal certification, then consider this opportunity. Gold Seal Update: September, 2007

• The Gold Seal Committee has approved an exam preparation course for Construction Safety Coordinator (CSC).  Local construction associations and construction safety associations will be permitted to run the course, which covers the CSC profile as well as exam writing tips. More information will be available shortly.
• Planning for the CCA Annual Conference in Victoria (March, 2008) includes a Gold Seal session on “Experience with Gold Seal as a Condition of Contract”. Buyers of construction will detail concrete pros and cons of this growing industry trend.
• A Gold Seal Code of Ethics is being developed for holders of the Gold Seal Intern (GSI), Gold Seal Certified (GSC) and Professional, Gold Seal Certified (P.GSC) designations. The Code will outline expectations for ethical behaviour and performance by construction management professionals, and will be released in the coming weeks.
• The next Gold Seal exam is scheduled for Friday, October 12 - applications should be submitted to Kelly Pochuk at WCA no later than September 17, 2007.
