On April 12, 2007, Skills Manitoba is hosting a one day conference for young women in Grade 8 to learn about trade and technology careers available in today’s employment market. The conference will highlight different vocations in trades and technology, introduce young women to women mentors working in the trades or technology field and provide employment and career planning information.

NEEDED: 30 women to be mentors as well as women who might be part of a panel discussion.

To view the conference brochure, click HERE.

To be a mentor, participate in the Young Women's Conference panel or to obtain more information, contact Maria Pacella-Augellone, Executive Director, Skills MB, at 927-0250 or skillsmb@mts.net.

Rotary Career Symposium: Volunteers Needed!

The Winnipeg Construction Association is once again hosting a Trade Up! Careers in Manitoba Construction booth at the Rotary Career Symposium, an event designed to provide valuable information about various education and employment options available to students in Senior 1 through Senior 4.

With Manitoba's construction climate at an all-time high, skilled tradespeople are in high demand. The need to reach students who are considering their career options has never been greater. Help us promote careers in Manitoba construction by volunteering for a two-hour shift at this year's symposium, April 11 & 12, 2007.

To participate, contact Twila Driedger, Communications Coordinator, at tdriedger@wpgca.com or 775-8664 ext. 2242.

Daylight Savings Time Changes

Daylight Savings Time will start on March 11, 2007, which is three weeks earlier than usual, and it will end on November 4, 2007, which is one week later than usual. This results in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than in previous years. Unless certain updates are applied to your computer, the time zone settings for your computer's system clock may be incorrect during this four-week period. In particular, you must make sure that both your Windows operating system and your calendar programs are updated.
